How To Receive The Truth
The word of God is to be taught in plain and bold words. Some may get angry when the truth is taught. Paul asked the Galatians, “Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?” (Galatians 4:16). How should the truth be received? What does the Bible say?
- As the word of God. “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13). We must realize that the Bible comes from the One who has absolute authority.
- Ready to make changes. “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,” (1 Peter 1:22). The word of God is useless to us if we refuse to obey.
- Prepared to share with others. “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2). We are taught so that we might teach.
- Loving the truth. “My soul keeps Your testimonies, And I love them exceedingly.” (Psalm 119:167). Scripture should be precious to us.
When properly received, and obeyed, this word can save. “… receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21). How do you receive the truth?
